4th of July Wreath

I hope everyone had a Happy and Safe 4th of July!

I just wanted to share my Patriotic Deco Mesh Wreath. I've had it up since Memorial Day and plan on keep it up until Labor Day! It's perfect for the summer and all the Patriotic Holidays in between.

Supplies I used:

• 15" Work Wreath (I couldn't find red or blue ones, so I bought a purple and spray painted it blue.)
• 21" Silver, Red and Blue striped deco mesh (1 Roll, you will have leftovers.)
• 10" Red Deco Mesh (Not even half of 1 Roll, so there will be plenty left over.)
• 10" Blue Deco Mesh (Not even half of 1 Roll, so there will be plenty left over.)
• Star Decorations (I had purchased 2 packs for 25 cents after Christmas, so I painted some white and silver and kept the others red.)
• Bethlehem Lights (battery operated with a timer) I love these lights, I use them on all my wreaths.

For my wreath I used the 21" stripe deco mesh, starting on the inner circle of the wreath, then moving to the outer circle. I used about 9 inches of mesh for each "poof".

Then I added some 10" Red and Blue mesh to add a little more color to the wreath.

I glued the stars randomly on the wreath using hot glue. And then I added the lights to finish the wreath.

I used my left over 21" Silver, Red and Blue deco mesh to make some garland across my porch.  I also strung the globe lights with the garland for the 4th of July weekend.

Mardi Gras Deco Mesh

It's Carnival Time!

I was so excited about making my Mardi Gras decorations that I started back in December! I bought a gold work wreath after Christmas (60% Off, SCORE!). I had already ordered some Mardi Gras deco mesh and ribbon from Mardi Gras Outlet, because I wasn't sure what selection my local craft stores would have.

For my wreath I used 21" Mardi Gras stripe deco mesh, starting on the inner circle of the wreath, then moving to the outer circle. I used about 9 inches of mesh for each "poof".

I had some gold 2.5" deco mesh ribbon left over from Christmas, so I added to the wreath for a little extra color.

I fell in love with the purple dot ribbon I ordered from Mardi Gras outlet! I made a large bow with the 2.5 ribbon, then I wove some of the ribbon around the wreath.

I searched through my box of Mardi Gras beads for something to use as decoration. I found an old mask and some doubloons. I painted the mask with green craft paint and used a purple curls pick to jazz it up. I glued the mask and the doubloons on to the wreath with hot glue.

This is my favorite deco mesh wreath so far!

Since I had leftover deco mesh, I decided to make some garland! (I had scored the green work garlands after Christmas for 60% off as well.)

For the garland I used the 21" stripe deco mesh and some leftover purple 10" deco mesh. I also added some of the gold 2.5" deco mesh ribbon.

I found some cute LED globe Mardi Gras lights at Hobby Lobby and wove them through the garland.

After hanging the garland on my porch, I added 3 large, glittery ornaments. (My mom found these on clearance after Christmas from Kmart!) I used floral wire to attach the ornaments so I can take them off and package them separately after the season.

Valentine's Day Deco Mesh

February is here! I'm not sure where the time has gone, but it is time to decorate for Valentine's Day. And time to make a new deco mesh wreath!

I was able to find a red heart shaped work wreath at Hobby Lobby. I started with 21" pink deco mesh.

I then added some 10" silver mesh. You really have to fluff and position the mesh to keep the heart shape in tact.

I used some Valentine's Day heart ribbon as accent and pink heart and silver ball ornaments.

I think my "last minute" wreath turned out great! 

I'm a little sad it only gets to hang up for 2 weeks, but I am more excited about my Mardi Gras wreath and Garland that will be hung next!

Deco Mesh Garland

I'm so excited to share my finished Deco Mesh porch decorations! We wanted to use our porch as a back drop for some holiday pictures and I think it turned out nice.

To make the garland I used a 9' work garland in dark green. I stretched it out and opened all the ties to make it easier to work with.

I started with the 21" red, green and white striped mesh. I used about 9 inches of mesh for each 'poof'. A quick way to measure is to pull the mesh to the next tie, then poof up the mesh back to the original tie and secure the poof.

After the 21" mesh, I used 10" green mesh. I made a few bows randomly throughout the garland with the green.

I used a 2.5" red ribbon as accent for the garland. Every 2 ties I made a bow. When making the bows I would start with the 2 large loops then make the center so I could twist the ties inside and they would be hidden by the bow.

I finished the garland with some green, red and white ornaments. I used the ties and some floral wire to attach them randomly throughout the garland.

After we hung the garland on the porch we wrapped white lights around it. 

Makes a nice holiday card background I think!

Deco Mesh Obsessed

A few months ago I decided to make a wreath using Deco Mesh. I've seen the mesh everywhere so I decided to see what all the fuss was about!

The great thing about Deco Mesh is that it holds its shape and can withstand the outdoor elements  - rain and sun. (No fading!)

So I started making a Fall wreath. I used a 21'' Poly Mesh roll of brown and orange stripe and a 10'' roll of gold.  For my first wreath I used a Styrofoam wreath and floral pins to attach the mesh.  I used some olive green ribbon for bows and a few fall picks to decorate the wreath.

I also added a string of battery powered lights. I think my first Deco Mesh wreath turned out nice. Using the styrofiam wreath I had to use more mesh to cover it and make it look full. I decided to keep researching to find a better/easier way to make things with Deco Mesh. 

I found the Mardi Gras Outlet's online videos which inspired me to make a Christmas wreath and garland.

For my Christmas Wreath I used a 21" Poly Mesh roll in Red, green and white stripe, a 10" roll in green and a 2.5" red ribbon.

I used small red, green, and white ornaments as accents and a strand of white battery operated lights. I think it turned out great! I can't wait to decorate my porch for the holidays!
